What is plasma cutter?
plasma is the fourth state of matter after gas. This same logic and physics is used in plasma cutters. Plasma cutting works by passing a super-fast jet of hot plasma through (conductive) metals to cut through it by melting it. Plasma cutters create plasma using a gas (such as argon, nitrogen, oxygen, or combination) through which an electric arc is passed. In this process plasma jet torch can reach temperature up to 50000 °F! And while some plasma cutters are big, industrial, robotized machines surrounded by guard box and similar heavy-duty safety features, the most common plasma cutters are handheld devices (without any specific guard) that are operated manually by operator’s hand control.
